Job summary

Behavioral-Emotional-&-Academic-Mentoring,-LL is seeking a part-time after-school helper in Downey. Daily duties include direct support to students with special needs, assisting with instructional activities, and helping maintain an engaging classroom environment.

You will work Monday through Friday, 1:30 pm to 6:15 pm, across various Downey Unified School District sites, under supervision. Training in RBT and BEAM is provided. Prior experience with youth groups or classrooms is desirable.

Qualifications

• Proof of High School Diploma or equivalency or AA degree / 48 college units or Paraeducator Exam.
• Ability to work with children with diverse needs in after-school settings.
• Willingness to complete required trainings (RBT and BEAM).

Responsibilities

• Direct support to students with special needs during after-school program.
• Assist in planning, development and delivery of instructional activities.
• Maintain organized classroom and materials; support social skills and behavior management.
• Provide supervision in various locations and assist with technology/adaptive devices.
• Collaborate with staff, district and administration; participate in planning meetings.
