Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego is seeking a patient and engaging Math Tutor for middle school students in the after-school program. The role involves providing instruction, supporting homework, and creating a positive learning environment to build confidence in mathematics.

The tutor will collaborate with teachers to tailor content, prep for quizzes and exams, and help students develop study strategies, while fostering growth mindset and academic success.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a High School diploma or GED.
• A minimum of 48 college units or completion of CAPE is required.
• Two years’ experience working with school-aged youth preferred.
• Experience using Zoom and Skype preferred.
• Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
• Ability to manage a positive learning environment and behavior.

Responsibilities

• Provide and lead math tutoring for middle school students (grades 6–8).
• Develop and deliver organized, culturally engaging activities.
• Differentiate lessons for various abilities as needed.
• Track student progress and communicate updates to parents/guardians.
• Create a safe, distraction-free learning environment.
