Job summary

Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is seeking a Literacy Classroom Aide for our after-school literacy program at area charter schools. This temporary, part-time role runs twice a week from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm, October through December, with 20 sessions total.

You will assist in managing the classroom, help implement lessons, reinforce literacy goals, and support children with diverse needs under the supervision of the classroom teacher.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with children or in a classroom setting preferred.
• Experience with children/adults with developmental delays/disabilities is a plus.
• Ability to follow classroom procedures and busing/breakfast/lunch routines.

Responsibilities

• Assist with management of the classroom and children.
• Organize and implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities under direction.
• Reinforce educational goals and attend to individual needs of children.
• Follow procedures for busing and breakfast/lunch programs.
