Job summary

Family Relief Resources in Portland, OR is seeking a dedicated Direct Support Professional to assist an 11-year-old client at home and in the community. You will provide patient, calm guidance, support daily living tasks, and help her build independence with gentle redirection.

The role requires 18+ years, ability to pass background checks, 15+ hours per month, CPR/First Aid within 3 months, and Spanish speaking preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities.
• Patient, positive and outgoing DSP.
• Experience promoting independence while maintaining supervision and safety.
• Comfortable supporting hygiene and self-care routines.

Responsibilities

• Care for a client in their home and take them into the community to learn skills and socialize.
• Teach independent living skills such as self-care, behavior management, budgeting, cooking, shopping and cleaning.
• Track visits with GPS timekeeping on a smartphone and document progress notes.
• Schedule management, reliability, and clear communication with the family and agency.
• Provide patient, kind, and positive support in varied situations.
