Job summary

CPNYC is hiring a Part-Time After School Counselor for the Bronx location, 2PM-6PM, Monday through Friday. You will supervise scholars and support their activities after school.

As part of the Programs department, you will implement the CPNYC curriculum, assist with homework and plan engaging literacy and fitness activities.

Qualifications include at least one year of child care, an associate degree or college credits (bachelor preferred); bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• At least one year of child care experience in an after school setting.
• Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
• Minimum of an Associate’s degree or college credits, with relevant experience
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; areas of study: General Education (K-8), Special Education, Social Work, Teaching, Professional Child Care, Psychology, or related fields

Responsibilities

• Supervise scholars during after-school hours.
• Carry out daily schedule with activities (arts/crafts, homework, reading, sports).
• Implement the CPNYC curriculum, helping school age children improve literacy, values, and fitness.
• Plan and create innovative age-appropriate activities.
• Develop daily lesson plans; read stories, lead songs and games.
• Maintain enrollment and daily attendance records.
• Assist children with homework and guide students in their academic growth.
• Conduct field trips or attend events; use public transportation and outdoor conditions.
• Stand for 50% of the shift.
• Work with youth and the general public.
• Other duties as assigned.
