Job summary

The Salvation Army in Dayton, OH is seeking an Education Program Leader for the SK2 after-school program (grades K–8). This part-time, seasonal role runs 2:00pm–6:00pm, Monday–Friday, for 33 weeks. You will prepare classrooms, check attendance, and implement activities per the Education Programming Specialist's plan.

You must enjoy working with children, be able to work in a team, and communicate clearly in English. Training and meetings are required; safety and a positive attitude are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
• Able to work well in a team and follow directions.
• Enjoy working with children and youth ages K–8.

Responsibilities

• Prepare classroom for the day.
• Take attendance and check in youth.
• Create classroom expectations for the day.
• Write incident reports when needed and use official communication equipment.
• Must attend all trainings and meetings.
• Demonstrate an ability to interact well with children, staff, church members, students, and guests.
• End-of-day tasks: sanitize surfaces, organize supplies, and reset room for future use.
• Maintain a positive attitude and be flexible to schedule changes.
• Ensure a safe and healthy environment for participants.
• Plan activities or games based on age groups.
• Assist children with homework or lead reading and math activities.
