Job summary

YMCA of Greater Hartford is recruiting for a Teacher's Aide to support the Head Teacher in an afterschool program in Granby, CT. The role involves direct activity with children, teamwork, and adhering to YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

The successful candidate will assist with daily activities, engage with diverse groups, and ensure safety and positive behavior management. Qualification includes being at least 16 and completing required certifications within 90 days

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Previous experience working with children is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with children, families and staff.
• Must attain Connecticut Child Care, Adult & Child CPR certification within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Teacher in preparing and delivering daily activities.
• Engage with children during activities and playtime; promote inclusion and respect.
• Maintain clean, safe spaces and properly store materials after activities.
• Communicate issues or concerns to the supervisor promptly.
• Protect confidentiality of information from parents, staff, and administration.
• Attend required training hours per year as mandated by state law or accrediting bodies.
