Chess Wizards is seeking enthusiastic instructors for after-school chess sessions in Abington, MA. Compensation is paid per class ($50-$70) with 2:00–5:00 PM weekday windows. Sessions are in local schools, with mileage reimbursement for travel and a fall-start schedule.

Ideal candidates will enjoy working with kids, manage classrooms confidently, and use a structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals while promoting good sportsmanship. Relocation is not provided.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children in educational, recreational, or mentoring settings.
• Ability to lead a class independently and create engaging, fun sessions.
• Professional, positive, kid-friendly demeanor.
• Desire to be a positive role model and promote good sportsmanship.
• Strong understanding of chess fundamentals and ability to explain moves, simple tactics, and strategy to kids.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students.
• Teach chess fundamentals and promote sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively classroom with confidence and positivity.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Follow school safety protocols and supervise during arrivals/dismissals.
• Travel to various local school sites for sessions.
• Be punctual, prepared, and ready to engage students.
