Job summary

Chess Wizards in Abington, MA is hiring enthusiastic instructors for after-school chess sessions. You will lead classes at local schools, using a structured curriculum to teach fundamentals and promote sportsmanship. Expect 2:00 PM–5:00 PM weekday slots, with 1–5 classes weekly at various sites.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children in educational, recreational, or mentoring settings.
• Comfort leading a class independently and creating interactive, friendly, and fun sessions.
• Professional, positive, kid-friendly demeanor.
• Strong grasp of chess fundamentals and ability to explain moves, strategy, and tactics at an age-appropriate level.
• Ability to connect chess problem-solving to real-life situations.
• Reliable personal transportation and ability to drive between locations.
• Weekday afternoon availability (2:00 PM–5:00 PM) for 1–5 classes per week.
• Commitment to school safety policies and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students.
• Teach fundamentals using a structured curriculum and promote good sportsmanship.
• Maintain a lively, positive classroom environment and engage students.
