Job summary

Chess Wizards in Castro Valley, CA is seeking enthusiastic, reliable instructors to join our after-school program. Teach a minimum of 1 class and up to 5 classes per week at local schools, guiding 10–15 elementary students through a fun, structured curriculum after school hours.

We provide full training, curriculum, and support, plus mileage reimbursement for travel. Competitive pay per class with flexible scheduling and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children in educational or recreational settings.
• Ability to lead a class independently with engaging, friendly sessions.
• Professional, positive demeanor and a genuine role model for sportsmanship.
• Strong chess fundamentals and ability to explain movements and basic tactics.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students.
• Use structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals and sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively, positive classroom and engage students.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Follow school safety protocols during arrival, dismissal, and activities.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session.
• Arrive on time, prepared and ready to engage students.
