Job summary

Chess Wizards, Inc. in Burlingame, CA, is seeking enthusiastic instructors for its after-school chess program. Lead engaging, age-appropriate chess lessons for elementary students using a structured curriculum and interactive activities.

Hours are weekday afternoons (2:00 PM–5:00 PM) with 1–5 classes weekly. Earn $55–$75 per class, plus mileage reimbursement for travels over 15 miles. Full training and materials are provided; opportunities for advancement and flexible scheduling are available.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, or similar).
• Ability to lead a class independently and create interactive, enjoyable sessions.
• Strong, positive, kid-friendly demeanor and role-model behavior.
• Ability to explain chess moves, strategy, and tactics to kids age-appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students.
• Follow the structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals and sportsmanship.
• Maintain a lively, positive classroom environment and manage behavior as needed.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking during sessions.
• Follow school safety protocols during arrivals, dismissals, and activities.
• Travel to local school sites for each session and arrive prepared for class.
