Job summary

The King’s Mate Chess Academy, LLC is seeking an enthusiastic After‑School Program Instructor to lead elementary school chess programs. The role focuses on creating a fun, structured environment and helping students develop thinking, focus, confidence, and perseverance through chess.

Responsibilities include delivering lessons, guiding up to 16 students, and adapting to varied ages and skill levels while maintaining a supportive classroom atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children through teaching, tutoring, coaching, childcare, mentoring, or similar roles.
• Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Dependability, professionalism, patience, and enthusiasm.
• Ability to manage a classroom of elementary-aged students.

Responsibilities

• Deliver fun, interactive chess lessons using the Academy’s curriculum and materials.
• Lead chess classes of up to 16 elementary school students.
• Adapt instruction for different ages, abilities, and skill levels.
• Provide individual guidance, encouragement, and constructive feedback.
• Teach chess fundamentals, strategies, and sportsmanship clearly.
• Facilitate chess matches, puzzles, and activities.
• Maintain a positive, organized, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Establish clear expectations and effective classroom management.
• Monitor participation, attendance, and engagement.
• Communicate professionally with coordinators and school staff.
