Chess Wizards, Inc. is seeking enthusiastic instructors to lead after-school chess classes for elementary students in Ann Arbor, MI. You will use our curriculum, keep students engaged, and create a positive classroom environment.

The role offers flexible hours (1–5 classes per week), local school travel with mileage reimbursement, and full training with curricular materials. A reliable transportation and punctuality are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, or similar).
• Capable of leading a class independently and creating engaging, fun sessions.
• Professional, positive, kid-friendly demeanor is essential.
• Strong grasp of chess fundamentals; explain movement, strategy, and simple tactics age-appropriately.
• Reliable transportation and ability to drive between locations.
• Weekday afternoon availability (2:00 PM–5:00 PM) for 1–5 classes/week.
• Commitment to school-safety policies and supervision.
• Strong punctuality and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students.
• Use structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals and sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively, positive classroom environment.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session.
• Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to engage students.
