Job summary

Associated Recreation Council (ARC) seeks a School-Age Care Counselor to guide a classroom of children ages 5-12 after school. Primary duties involve active supervision, safe activity planning, and creating an engaging, inclusive environment at the Broadview-Thomson K-8 School program.

The role supports Seattle Parks and Recreation, offers part-time, non-exempt hours, and involves working schedules Mon-Fri after school, up to 23 hours per week, with possible summer work.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a high school diploma or other secondary education.
• Background checks and health requirements (MMR, TB test, MERIT Portable Background Check, and Washington State Food Worker Card) are required after being hired.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a classroom of children ages 5–12 during after-school hours.
• Create engaging activities and support learning and well-being.
• Maintain a 1:10 staff-to-child ratio as much as possible to ensure safety and accountability.
• Collaborate with ARC School-Age Care staff and leadership to deliver the program.
