Job summary

Mentor Exempted Village School District is seeking an afterschool program assistant to supervise students, ensure safety, and support the program leader in planning the environment. You will lead developmentally appropriate activities and communicate with students and families professionally.

Requirements include being at least 18, a high school diploma or equivalent, and at least 500 hours of related experience. CPR/First Aid certification is preferred, and a good attendance record is essential.

Qualifications

• At least eighteen years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of five hundred hours of related experience.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• Maintain a good attendance record.
• Demonstrate appropriate decision-making skills and good judgment.
• Proficiency in reading, math, oral and written communications.
• Must pass a physical examination.
• Free of alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substances in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Accept directions and suggestions from immediate supervisor.
• Supervise large and small groups of children in an afterschool environment, independently and as part of a team.
• Ensure the safety of students at all times.
• Assist the program leader in planning the program and environment.
• Lead students in developmentally appropriate activities as assigned.
• Assist in the maintenance of records, charts, and complete other clerical work as assigned using current computer hardware and software.
• Communicate with students and families in a professional manner.
• Attend required in-services training sessions.
