Job summary

YMCA of Greater New York is seeking an Activity Specialist: Art for the West Side YMCA in New York, NY. This part-time role focuses on delivering age-appropriate art instruction within the Y Afterschool program, including Holiday Camps, and creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning space for school-age children.

You will design curricula, lead daily activities, assess progress, and help coordinate materials while upholding OCFS, DOH, and YMCA standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; college credits preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience in art programming.
• Direct experience with children under 13.
• Subject matter expert in designated art area.
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design a comprehensive art curriculum with measurable goals for various grades.
• Plan, facilitate, and supervise art-based activities in a safe environment.
• Prepare materials and assist with equipment and logistics for projects.
• Lead daily art activities and teach fundamental artistic skills.
• Prepare participants for an end-of-cycle art showcase and display pieces.
