Job summary

YMCA of Greater New York is seeking an Activity Specialist in Harlem to design and deliver age-appropriate Art instruction for the Y Afterschool program. The role focuses on creating a safe, engaging space, leading daily art activities, and guiding participants through creative projects and an end-of-cycle showcase.

The position requires a high school diploma, two years of art programming experience, and strong collaboration across staff, parents, and partners. Harlem location; part-time hours.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of art programming experience with children.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.
• Experience designing age-appropriate arts curricula.

Responsibilities

• Design a comprehensive art curriculum with lesson plans and measurable goals.
• Lead daily art activities in a safe, inclusive environment.
• Prepare materials and coordinate with staff for supplies and tech needs.
• Ensure accessibility and safety for all participants, including behavioral considerations.
