Job summary

The Dodge YMCA in Brooklyn, NY seeks an Activity Specialist for Art in the Y Afterschool program. This part-time role focuses on designing and delivering age-appropriate art instruction for school-age children in a safe, engaging environment.

You will plan activities, guide learners, and incorporate literacy elements while coordinating with program staff to ensure high-quality enrichment and a positive, inclusive atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Minimum education is a high school diploma or equivalent; college credits in a related field are preferred.
• Experience with art programming and working with youth is desirable.
• Proven ability to lead and collaborate with diverse youth and adults.

Responsibilities

• Design an art curriculum with lesson plans, goals, and measurable outcomes.
• Lead daily art activities, ensuring a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Coordinate materials, logistics, and safety considerations for art projects.
• Integrate literacy and foundational skills into art projects when appropriate.
• Support end-of-cycle show preparations and student showcases.
