Job summary

The Salvation Army is hiring a part-time Childcare Assistant for the After School and Summer Day Camp program in North Platte, Nebraska. You will support the program director, prepare activities, supervise meals, and help with daily routines for school-age children.

Requirements include at least 1 year of experience with children, ability to drive as needed, background checks, and CPR/First Aid certification. Must pass Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist the program director with program preparation.

• Lead and participate in all facets of the program: recreation, snack, craft, pool, fieldtrips, etc.
• Enforces and adheres to the facility policies of no swearing, no alcoholic drinking, no drug use and no violence.
• Follow progressive disciplinary procedures when needed.
• Document and report accidents using the EER process.
• End of day cleaning, organizing as needed.
• Driving is an essential role of the position.
• All other duties as assigned.

Summary / Primary Purpose:

To protect, guide, stimulate, and help the children in the After School and Summer Day Camp program. To provide wholesome, character-building programming & supervision to school-age children.

Education and/or Experience:

Qualifications:

• Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
• The ability to access payroll, timekeeping, and personal data via a web-based system.
• Good communication skills both written and spoken, to assist in building a relationship with the children and their parent/guardian.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.

Other Qualifications:

Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

CPR and First Aid Certification and must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.
