FLSA Status: Part Time - non-exempt
Reports to: Red Shield Program Manager & Asst. Red Shield Program Manager
Rate of Pay: $14.81/hr

Benefits (Standard; Part‑Time, Non‑Exempt Employees)
- Sick leave benefit - 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro‑rated for part‑time hours.)
- Vacation benefit - 10 vacation days per year, accrued at the rate of .0385 hours for each hour worked, excluding overtime (accrual begins at hire but may not be used until the completion of six months of employment; vacation accrual is pro‑rated for part‑time hours.)
Scope of Position / Essential Functions
The Red Shield Program Aide will work daily with the youth in the center to build relationships and foster a friendly and safe environment for youth to grow and thrive. To accomplish this, the After School Program Aide will work with Program Leaders and Directors as a team in delivering programs that best meets the ever‑changing needs of our youth.
Qualification and Education Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 months of full‑time or equivalent part‑time verifiable experience working with children.
Responsibilities
- Assist with afterschool and summer programming, including supervision, guidance, and caring for children in an educational, enrichment, and recreational setting.
- Assist Program Lead with supervision during afterschool pickups from district D‑11 school.
- Assist Program Lead with Summer Day Camp transportation supervision to and from scheduled events.
- Provide leadership support to Corps ministry components integrated into the afterschool and summer program.
- Offer encouraging instruction to students during group activities.
- Assist the Manager or Leads in planning, teaching lessons, homework support, and activities.
- Assist with food preparation, serving, and clean‑up.
- Develop partnerships with parents and maintain responsive relationships with children.
- Maintain discipline and encourage all children to follow rules.
- Help prepare and clean up the program area, and assist with opening/closing the facility.
- Supervise rotations with sign‑in and sign‑out.
- Lead activities.
- Oversee the supervision of all children and ensure Program Aides are supervising as required.
- Ensure every child is accounted for at all times.
- Report all issues (no matter how small) to the Red Shield Director.
- Attend mandatory staff trainings.

- Must be 18 years of age.

- Preferred history of providing professional, effective programming with children and families.
- Desire to serve others by building on their strengths.

- Driving is NOT required for this position.
Physical Requirements
Ability to maneuver; remain in a stationary position, squat, climb, kneel, and twist intermittently or continuously; grasp, push, pull, reach overhead; operate a telephone; lift up to 25 pounds; access and produce information from a computer; understand written information.
