Job summary

New York Junior Tennis & Learning (NYJTL) invites applications for an Activity Specialist in our DYCD-funded after-school program. You will design and lead project-based activities in a chosen specialty (arts, STEM, sports, etc.) for youth, aligning with program goals and youth interests.

This part-time role runs weekdays 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm and totals about 20 hours per week through the school year. Strong planning, youth engagement, and safety practices are essential; bilingual skills are

Qualifications

2+ years' experience working with children or youth in group settings (after-school, camp, school, recreational program).
High school diploma or GED completed.
Some college coursework or degree in Education, Arts, Recreation, Youth Development, or related field.
Bilingual language skills.
DYCD NYC after-school setting experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Design and implement sequential, project-based units and lesson plans in a designated area.
Align activities with program goals, youth interests, and DYCD/COMPASS-SONYC frameworks.
Integrate social-emotional learning, teamwork, and youth leadership into activities.
Build strong relationships with youth and coordinate with staff and site leadership.
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and planning sessions.
Ensure youth safety and supervision; follow agency policies.
Care for and inventory program equipment and supplies.
Available 2:00pm–6:00pm, Monday–Friday, ~20 hours/week during the school year.
