Job summary

New York Junior Tennis & Learning (NYJTL) seeks an Activity Specialist for after-school programs across multiple NYC sites. You will plan project-based activities in a chosen specialty area, engage youth, and support development through structured sessions.

You will work Monday–Friday, 2:00pm–6:00pm, up to 20 hours weekly, in Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx or Manhattan. The role requires a HS diploma and 2+ years around children; some college coursework is preferred.

Qualifications

• Available during after-school hours (2:00pm–6:00pm) for 20 hours/week.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in arts, STEM, sports or related activity area.
• 2+ years working with children or youth in group settings.
• Ability to plan structured activities and manage a group.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead engaging, project-based activities for participants.
• Align activities with program goals and youth interests.
• Integrate social-emotional learning and teamwork into sessions.
• Prepare materials, maintain a safe activity space, and document progress.
• Attend staff meetings, trainings, and planning sessions.
• Collaborate with site leadership to coordinate schedules and needs.
