Job summary

Heartshare seeks a Per Diem Activity Specialist to supervise and engage groups of school-age children in enriching after-school activities. You will assist with homework, lead recreational and educational activities, and ensure a safe, supportive environment, with expertise in arts, dance, STEM, literacy, nutrition, or organized sports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• 1-2 years experience with youth.
• Available Mon-Fri 2:00pm-6:00pm in Coney Island, Brooklyn.

Responsibilities

• Develop age-appropriate activities in one or more discipline or content area.
• Provide direct supervision of youth activities.
• Submit weekly activity plans.
• Lead activities related to Arts, Dance, STEM, Literacy, Nutrition, or Organized sports.
• Maintain daily attendance records for program participants.
• Provide basic counseling as needed (peer mediation, self-control, decision making).
• Accompany youth on cultural and recreational field trips.
• Ensure a safe environment for program participants.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere; collaborate with staff.
• Participate in professional development sessions, supervision, and team meetings.
• Maintain and organize activities and equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
