Job summary

Heartshare Human Services Of New York is seeking a Per Diem Activity Specialist for after-school programs in Brooklyn. You will supervise and engage school-age children, assist with homework, and lead activities in areas such as arts, STEM, literacy, or sports.

The role emphasizes safety, inclusion, and collaborative teamwork. Responsibilities include planning weekly activities, maintaining attendance records, and supporting participants with basic counseling and peer mediation as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree in child development, recreation, or related field preferred.
• 1-2 years' experience working with youth in development/recreation fields.
• Must be able to work in Coney Island, Brooklyn; Mon-Fri 2:00pm-6:00pm.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage school-age children in after-school activities.
• Assist with homework and lead activities across arts, dance, STEM, literacy, nutrition, or sports.
• Submit weekly activity plans and maintain attendance records.
• Ensure a safe, inclusive environment and coordinate with staff for group activities.
• Participate in professional development and team meetings.
