Job summary

YMCA of the Pines is seeking a School's Out Assistant Counselor to support planning and implementing activities for children in small groups at the designated program site. The role emphasizes safety, development, and skill growth in before- and after-school programs.

You will assist the Site Supervisor with welcoming children and parents, maintaining equipment, and participating in trainings, while fostering positive relationships and upholding licensing standards.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Able to clear state background checks including criminal history and child abuse records checks.
• Knowledge of supervision and safety of children.
• Able to motivate and encourage children in a before- and after-school setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications required within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to lead in sports, games, academics, crafts.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering and participating in all activities to ensure a quality program.
• Assist Site Supervisor with greeting children and parents; ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; clean and store items.
• Attend staff meetings, workshops, and in-service training per State requirements.
• Cultivate positive relationships and communicate effectively with parents, children, and staff.
• Adhere to program and state licensing standards, including safety and cleanliness.
• Follow YMCA policies and procedures related to medical, disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
