Animal Health Care Center in Madison, WI seeks a dedicated Veterinary Receptionist to join our after-hours urgent care team. You will be the first contact for clients and their pets, creating a welcoming experience while assisting the veterinary team with patient flow and administrative tasks during the 3:30 PM–11:00 PM shift.

Ideal candidates bring veterinary-related experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Formación

• Previous experience in a veterinary hospital, urgent care, emergency, or animal care setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology and basic medical procedures is beneficial.
• Proficiency with computers and scheduling systems.
• Strong interpersonal skills, calm under pressure.
• Ability to work evenings Monday–Thursday.

Responsabilidades

• Greet clients and their pets promptly and compassionately during potentially stressful situations.
• Assist with intake and registration of urgent and emergency patients.
• Answer phone calls and provide information on urgent care services and policies.
• Communicate wait times and patient flow to clients and team.
• Identify situations needing immediate attention and relay to veterinary staff.
• Schedule follow-up appointments and coordinate patient care as directed.
• Maintain accurate patient records and client information.
• Process payments, estimates, deposits, and medical collections.
• Assist with discharge procedures and veterinary instructions.
• Support the team with basic animal handling when appropriate.
• Maintain clear communication between clients and staff.
• Keep reception and waiting area clean and organized in the evening.
• Handle sensitive client interactions with professionalism and empathy.
• Assist with end-of-day and closing procedures.
