Job summary

Nashville General Hospital – Our Kids Center is seeking a PRN Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to perform forensic medical evaluations for children birth to 15 with suspected abuse.

This role requires after-hours coverage (minimum 8 shifts/month, some weekends), collaboration with law enforcement and DCS, detailed reporting, and potential court testimony, with dedicated multidisciplinary teamwork.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited NP or PA program.
• Current TN Advanced Practice Nursing or PA license.
• Certification as PNP, FNP or PA by a national certifying body.
• 1 year pediatric experience; 1 year APN/PA with pediatric population preferred.
• Sexual assault examination experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of family violence and child abuse issues and criminal justice systems desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide after-hours coverage with at least 8 shifts per month, including some weekends.
• Triage incoming calls from DCS, LE, and medical providers.
• Perform forensic medical evaluations on children birth to 15 years old for suspected abuse.
• Provide daytime clinic coverage for non-acute evaluations at least 1 weekday per month after training.
• Collaborate with law enforcement and DCS during investigations.
• Write detailed reports and provide court testimony when required.
• Adapt interactions to meet developmental, cultural, and family needs.
• Participate in quality assurance activities including monthly peer review.
