Job summary

Oxford Instruments AFM is seeking a hands-on Factory Service Engineer to support AFM systems repair, testing, and continuous improvement at our Santa Barbara facility. You will diagnose complex technical issues, restore equipment to specification, and provide timely, clear updates to internal teams and customers.

The role requires at least 5+ years in mechanical/electrical instrumentation, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work closely with production, test, and engineering

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands‑on experience with electrical/mechanical instrumentation.
• Experience interpreting schematics, drawings and procedures.
• Strong problem‑solving and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and test AFM systems and subsystems.
• Perform fault isolation using schematics and test equipment.
• Maintain safe, organized service areas and accurate records.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing and Field service teams.
