Job summary

MetroPlains Management, LLC in Fargo, ND seeks an Affordable Housing Director of Compliance to lead regulatory compliance across HUD, LIHTC, RD, HOME, and related programs. You will supervise a regional team, prepare for audits, and report to senior leadership.

The role requires 5–8 years in compliance management in property management and affordable housing, plus leadership experience and industry designations. Hybrid work with travel is possible.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of compliance management experience in property management and affordable housing.
• 5+ years of experience managing employees.
• Expert knowledge of HUD, LIHTC, HOME, RD and Fair Housing regulations.
• Industry designations such as COS, C3P, HCCP, CAM, CAPS or similar.
• Experience with Yardi and state agency software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Adobe.

Responsibilities

• Oversee compliance with HUD, LIHTC, RD, HOME and Housing Trust Fund programs.
• Supervise compliance staff and support staff in your region so that compliance work is accurate and meets regulatory standards.
• Lead internal file audits for move-ins, annual recertifications and interim adjustments.
• Prepare for state agency audits, investor reviews and HUD MORs, and draft responses to audit findings.
• Identify compliance risks, develop ways to reduce them, and ensure all leases, attachments and forms meet agency requirements.
• Manage compliance during lease-ups and program conversions of new and existing properties.
• Work with the VP of Compliance to design and deliver training and to keep policy manuals current.
• Prepare and present compliance reports to senior leadership, and submit annual compliance reports to funding agencies on time.
• Do regular on-site file reviews, help site staff fix deficiencies, and verify electronic records.
