Job summary

MetroPlains Management, LLC in Fargo, ND seeks an Affordable Housing Director of Compliance to lead regulatory compliance across HUD, LIHTC, RD, HOME and related programs. You will supervise a regional team, engage with agencies and investors, and report to the Vice President of Compliance.

This role requires deep expertise, a track record in tenancy and audit readiness, and strong leadership and training skills. Travel to properties is expected.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of compliance management experience in property management and affordable housing.
• 5+ years of experience managing employees.
• Expert knowledge of HUD, LIHTC, HOME, RD and Fair Housing regulations.
• Industry designations such as COS, C3P, HCCP, CAM or CAPS.
• Experience with Yardi and state agency software.

Responsibilities

• Oversee compliance with federal, state and local affordable housing programs (HUD, LIHTC, RD, HOME, Housing Trust Fund).
• Supervise compliance and support staff regionally to ensure accuracy and regulatory adherence.
• Lead internal file audits for move-ins, annual recertifications and interim adjustments.
• Prepare for state agency audits, investor reviews and MORs, and draft responses to audit findings.
• Identify compliance risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure leases and forms meet agency requirements.
• Manage compliance during lease-ups and program conversions of properties, meeting owner/investor expectations.
• Collaborate with VP of Compliance to design training and update policy manuals.
• Prepare and present compliance reports to senior leadership and funding agencies on time.
• Conduct on-site file reviews and assist site staff in fixing deficiencies.
