Job summary

Canopy A&D is seeking a motivated TPS engineer to join the aerothermal team in Irvine or Littleton, CO, working with external customers to refine TPS requirements through modeling and simulation. You will collaborate with TPS design and manufacturing to develop effective solutions for space and hypersonics platforms and lead projects to timely completion.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant technical field.
• 2+ years of experience performing vehicle-level CFD, preferably for launch/reentry.
• Experience with thermal analysis and heat transfer simulations.
• Familiarity with TPS sizing and analysis tools.
• Security clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Engage with external customers to refine TPS requirements through modeling and simulation.
• Assess ablation and heat transfer for TPS stackups.
• Create, mesh, run, and post-process CFD models.
• Lead external and internal flow field simulations.
• Develop test plans for experimental campaigns to validate results.
• Review post-flight data against pre-flight estimates.
