Job summary

Canopy A&D is seeking a highly motivated aerothermal engineer to join our Canopy engineering team. You will refine TPS requirements through modeling and simulation, collaborating with TPS design and manufacturing to develop effective thermal protection solutions for space and hypersonics.

You will lead customer engagements, perform CFD analyses, and contribute to proposals and new products. Candidates should have 2+ years of vehicle CFD experience, strong fundamentals, and the ability to work

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in a relevant technical field with 2+ years of experience performing vehicle-level CFD, preferably applied to launch vehicles and/or reentry systems
Direct experience with thermal analysis and heat transfer simulations
Experience with thermal protection system sizing and analysis using FIAT, CHAR, CBAero, TPSSizer, MINIVER, and/or LAURA

Responsibilities

Engage with external customers to complete trade studies considering aerothermal environment and TPS material response
Assess ablation and heat transfer for TPS stackups at different fidelity levels
Create, mesh, run, and post process CFD models
Responsible for all external and internal flow field simulations
Lead the review of post-flight data and compare with pre-flight estimates
