Job summary

QinetiQ US is seeking an experienced Flight Director to lead aerostat flight operations on the TARS program. You will act as the single point of contact for your shift, overseeing crew activities from pre-launch to recovery and coordinating with the Control Center and other agencies.

The role requires 5 years of aerostat experience with supervisory duties, a high school diploma, and Weather Observation training. English proficiency is essential, with NAC security considerations.

Qualifications

• 5 years' aerostat experience; 2 supervisory.
• High school graduate with 16 hours Weather Observation training.
• National security clearance NC/NAC preferred; must read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Act as single point-of-contact and control over Aerostat mission support during shift.
• Maintain weather status and communicate with Control Center and agencies.
• Log flight data and maintain weight logs and balance records.
• Monitor system performance and health trends; estimate helium needs.
• Supervise flight operations and maintenance crew during shift.
• Train and certify personnel in aerostat subsystems.
• Direct preflight/postflight checks and coordinate resupply and repairs.
• May serve as Site Manager in absence and ensure site security.
