Job summary

QinetiQ US is seeking an experienced Operator 2/Flight Director to support aerostat systems providing persistent surveillance for the U.S. Government across multiple sites in the Rio Grande Valley, TX.

You will lead aerostat flight operations, coordinate pre-launch to recovery activities, and work with maintenance and site teams to ensure mission readiness. The role requires direct aerostat experience, the ability to obtain a Flight Director Certification, and a willingness to work a 24/7

Qualifications

• GED or High School Diploma is required.
• At least 2 years of direct aerostat experience; higher education can substitute for years of experience.
• Must obtain and maintain Aerostat Flight Director Certification.
• Valid U.S. driver's license is required.
• Must be able to understand, speak, read, and write English fluently.
• Candidate should be able to work in a 24/7 shift and relocate to multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• Serve as operational crew in a 24/7 aerostat mission support role including pre-launch, launch, ascent, transition, station keeping and recovery.
• Perform preflight and post-flight checks of aerostat electronic subsystems.
• Maintain weather condition logs and communicate trends to the Control Center.
• Coordinate with Meteorological Forecast Facilities and other agencies as needed.
• Prepare flight system weight logs and balance records for the aerostat.
• Direct and perform maintenance on subsystems and support equipment; train personnel on procedures.
