Job summary

QinetiQ US in the El Paso area seeks an experienced Operator 2/Flight Director to support aerostat systems providing persistent surveillance for U.S. Government customers.

You will join a 24/7 flight crew, actively supporting pre-launch, launch, ascent, transition, station keeping, and recovery tasks across multiple sites. You will report to the Aerostat Operations Director and coordinate with maintenance teams for on-site activities.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required.
• 3 years' direct aerostat experience; degree may substitute for experience.
• Aerostat Flight Director Certification required.
• Valid U.S. driver's license required.
• Ability to work in a 24/7 shift environment.
• Successful background investigation and DHS suitability.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the operational crew in a 24/7 aerostat operation.
• Direct preflight and post-flight checks of aerostat subsystems.
• Maintain weather status and mission-related forecasts.
• Coordinate with Control Center and government agencies as needed.
• Maintain flight system weight logs and balance records.
• Lead inflation, launch, ascent, and recovery activities.
• Provide maintenance oversight of aerostat subsystems and ground support.
