Job summary

QinetiQ US is seeking an experienced Operator 2/Flight Director to support aerostat systems providing persistent surveillance for the U.S. Government across Rio Grande Valley, TX.

You will join a flight crew, supporting pre-launch, launch, ascent, and recovery with daily site execution under a direct supervisor. The role requires direct aerostat flight operations experience, ability to work 24/7 shifts, and certification readiness.

Qualifications

• GED or High School Diploma.
• 2 Years’ direct experience with Aerostat related systems; can substitute with Associate/Bachelor degree.
• Must obtain an Aerostat Flight Director Certification and remain current for continued employment.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s license required.
• Must be able to understand, speak, read, and write English fluently.
• Willingness to work in a 24/7 shift scenario.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the operational crew in a 24/7 operation for aerostat pre-launch, launch, ascent, transition, station keeping, and recovery.
• Directs and performs all aerostat electronic subsystem preflight and post-flight checks and inspections.
• Maintains weather status and trends influencing mission support.
• Communicates with Control Center, Meteorological Forecast Facilities, and other agencies.
• Prepares flight system weight logs and balance records.
• Evaluates aerostat lift and purity trends and reports anomalies.
