Job summary

QinetiQ US is seeking an experienced Operator 2/Flight Director to support aerostat systems providing persistent surveillance along the U.S. Southern border, including El Paso, Texas area. You will join a flight crew supporting pre-launch, launch, ascent, transition, station keeping and recovery.

The role requires 24/7 shift availability, certification in Aerostat Flight Director, and the ability to coordinate maintenance with site personnel and management.

Qualifications

• GED or High School Diploma required.
• 3 years’ direct experience with Aerostat related systems; degree can substitute for experience.
• Must obtain an Aerostat Flight Director Certification and stay current.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the operational crew in a 24/7 aerostat operation.
• Directs and performs aerostat subsystem preflight and post-flight checks and inspections.
• Maintains weather status and influences mission support.
• Communicates with Control Center and Government agencies as appropriate.
• Prepares flight system logs and weight/balance records.
• Evaluates lift/purity trends and reports issues to management.
