Qualifications

  • Proficiency in TIG/GTAW welding; additional processes may be required.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
  • Strong understanding of welding procedures, metallurgy, heat control, and distortion.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Able to pass required welding qualification tests.

Description

The Aerokool aviation welder is responsible for precision welding, fabrication, and repair of aerospace components and assemblies. The position requires exceptional attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality welds that meet stringent aerospace specifications, engineering drawings, customer requirements, and applicable quality standards

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform precision TIG/GTAW, MIG/GMAW, or other approved welding processes on aerospace components.
  • Weld aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, nickel alloys, and other aerospace-grade materials as qualified.
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Set up welding equipment, select appropriate parameters, and prepare materials and joints for welding.
  • Perform welding on thin-gauge and complex components where distortion, heat input, and dimensional accuracy are critical.
  • Inspect welds visually and use appropriate measuring and inspection equipment to verify workmanship.
  • Maintain required weld penetration, bead appearance, dimensions, tolerances, and structural integrity.
  • Perform grinding, polishing, blending, cleaning, and other finishing operations as required.
  • Identify defects such as porosity, cracking, undercutting, lack of fusion, or dimensional problems and make appropriate corrections.
  • Maintain accurate production, inspection, and traceability documentation.
  • Follow all AS9100, FAA, customer, company, and applicable aerospace quality requirements.
  • Maintain welding certifications and qualifications required for assigned work.
  • Operate welding machines, fixtures, positioners, hand tools, and related equipment safely.
  • Work closely with engineering, quality assurance, inspection, and manufacturing personnel.
  • Follow all safety procedures involving welding, compressed gases, chemicals, PPE, and industrial equipment.
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent technical training.
  • Previous experience in aerospace, aviation, precision manufacturing, or highly regulated welding preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in TIG/GTAW welding; additional processes may be required.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
  • Strong understanding of welding procedures, metallurgy, heat control, and distortion.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
  • Ability to work to very tight tolerances and detailed specifications.
  • Strong manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to pass required welding qualification tests
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Aerospace welding certification or documented qualification to applicable specifications.
  • Experience welding aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, or nickel-based alloys.
  • Experience with aerospace components, aircraft structures, engine components, fuel systems, or similar precision applications.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, NADCAP, FAA requirements, or customer‑specific aerospace specifications.
  • Experience with weld inspection, including familiarity with NDT/NDE processes Such As dye penetrant or radiographic inspection.
  • Experience working from detailed manufacturing routers and controlled work instructions
