Research Metal Industries (RMI) seeks an experienced Aerospace Welder (AWS D17.1 Class A) to join our precision manufacturing team in Gardena, CA. You will perform high-quality TIG welding on thin-wall aluminum aerospace parts according to drawings and strict aerospace standards.

The role emphasizes close-tolerance work, attention to detail, and adherence to procedures to ensure best-in-class weld quality for critical components used in aircraft structures.

Qualifications

  • AWS D17.1 certification required or ability to certify.
  • Strong experience welding aluminum is required.
  • 5–10+ years aerospace welding experience preferred.
  • Strong experience with TIG (GTAW) welding.
  • Ability to read blueprints, weld symbols, and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Welding operations on aerospace components per approved procedures.
  • Work with aluminum, stainless steel, Inconel, titanium and other aerospace alloys.
  • Execute TIG (GTAW) and other required welding methods.
  • Ensure welds meet dimensional, strength, and visual quality requirements.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and specifications.
  • Follow Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and aerospace standards.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Aerospace Welder (AWS D17.1 Class A) to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for performing high-quality welding operations on aerospace components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and aerospace quality standards. This position involves precision TIG welding of thin-wall aluminum aerospace components. We are seeking welders with experience producing small, close-tolerance parts where quality, consistency, and attention to detail are essential. Experience limited to structural or heavy fabrication is not the best fit for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Welding Operations
  2. Perform welding on aerospace components in accordance with approved procedures
  3. Work with materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, Inconel, titanium, and other aerospace alloys
  4. Execute welding processes including TIG (GTAW) and other required methods
  5. Ensure welds meet dimensional, strength, and visual quality requirements
  6. Drawing & Specification Compliance
  7. Read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and specifications
  8. Follow qualified Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
  9. Ensure work meets aerospace standards and customer requirements
  10. Quality & Inspection Support
  11. Perform self-inspection of welds
  12. Address rework or corrections promptly when identified
  13. Production Execution & Priority Support
  14. Support production priorities including:
  15. Customer-critical components
  16. High-value aerospace parts
  17. Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to meet delivery schedules
Qualifications
  • AWS D17.1 Aerospace Welding Certification (required or ability to certify)
  • Strong experience welding Aluminum is required
  • 5–10+ years of aerospace welding experience preferred
  • Strong experience with TIG (GTAW) welding
  • Experience welding aluminum, stainless steel, Inconel, titanium, or aerospace alloys.
  • Ability to read blueprints, weld symbols, and engineering drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards
