Job summary

Embraer in Melbourne, FL is seeking an Upholsterer to prepare VIP aircraft seating by upholstering parts per work orders and drawings. You will cut, sew, foam, and install coverings, using cutting tools, sewing machines, and fasteners, while maintaining safety and quality.

You will read engineering drawings, create patterns, train junior technicians, and help ensure on-time delivery of premium interiors. The role requires to lift up to 55 lbs and work in a hands-on environment in aerospace

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Experience reading measuring tools and basic math.
• Two years of sewing machine, serger, and hand tool use.
• Knowledge of aerospace upholstery preferred.
• Must be able to lift 35-55 lbs during shifts.

Responsibilities

• Upholster parts according to work orders and drawings.
• Measure, cut, sew fabrics and leathers.
• Cut foam, bond and assemble cushions.
• Design and fabricate patterns for upholstery.
• Operate sewing machines and join covering material.
• Install material on work piece and secure with tools.
• Mentor junior technicians and ensure safety and quality.
• Read engineering drawings to determine materials.
• Identify potential problems and propose solutions.
