Job summary

RTX’s MSEN Transmissions team is looking for an engineer to perform transmissions design and analysis on both commercial and military engine programs. You will design gear trains, support gearboxes, and lube pumps, and present results at technical reviews.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, using CAD and software tools, and contribute to program life-cycle activities from concept through post-production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or related STEM major by start date.
• Experience delivering presentations, independently completing assigned responsibilities, and contributing to successful outcomes within multidisciplinary team environments.
• Experience with CAD modeling software or with programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, Fortran.
• Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA.

Responsibilities

• Perform gear train design and analysis for all phases of product life cycle including preliminary design, detailed design, development testing and validation, certification, delivery support, and post engine production & service support.
• Monitor gearbox health during rig validation testing, perform test data-reduction and analysis, and confirm test objectives are met.
• Support field investigations and utilize CORE tools to determine the root cause.
• Participate in design process creation and improvement.
• Use gear design and analysis tools to define gear geometry and confirm full life capability.
• Participate as the transmissions team representative on multi-discipline teams to provide design solutions balancing durability, performance, cost and weight.
• Work to advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods.
• Document design and analysis results and present conclusions to transmissions chief & manager.
