Job summary

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Tooling Design Engineer in Carlsbad, CA to design, develop, and refine tools and fixtures for manufacturing and assembly. You will work with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to drive tooling initiatives in a fast-paced environment and grow expertise in tooling design.

Responsibilities include creating 3D models, documentation, and collaborating with production teams to meet requirements, while advancing safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with CAD software (NX, CATIA, Creo or SolidWorks).
• Experience with GD&T, manufacturing processes, and assembly techniques.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams.
• U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop tools, fixtures, and equipment to support manufacturing and engineering processes.
• Create and update 3D models, technical drawings, and documentation using CAD software.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure tools meet requirements and are production-ready.
• Support testing, validation, and troubleshooting of tooling.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of tool design processes to reduce lead times.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
• Evaluate new tooling suppliers and support purchasing.
• Train engineers and technicians on proper tooling use.
• Explore new technologies to align with business goals.
