Job summary

P3 Group is seeking a Tooling Engineer to work hands-on in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment, designing tooling solutions from concept through commissioning to improve safety, quality, cost, and production efficiency. The first assignment is on-site in Florida.

You will work with Manufacturing Engineering, suppliers, and other stakeholders, managing tooling projects end-to-end and applying DFM/DFA principles. Expect up to 100% travel across client projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of direct manufacturing experience in a technically demanding production environment.
• Practical experience in tooling design, fabrication, and procurement.
• Proficiency in CAD-based mechanical design and drafting; Creo Parametric and Windchill desirable.
• Strong understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Ability to identify load cases, create free-body diagrams, and perform basic engineering calculations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and release CAD models and drawings for tooling per ASME Y14.5.
• Develop solutions for fixtures, rotisseries, test fixtures, weldments, environmental chambers, and custom machinery.
• Manage tooling projects from concept to commissioning and proof testing.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, integration teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.
• Set priorities for tooling procurement and communicate requirements across the project team.
• Support repair and rework activities and resolve manufacturing challenges.
• Perform root-cause analysis for nonconformances and drive corrective actions.
• Define material-handling and packaging requirements for tooling hardware.
• Apply DFM and DFA principles to improve safety, quality, cost, and cycle time.
