Job summary

Chromalloy is seeking a Tool Maker to analyze specifications and set up and operate conventional, special-purpose, and numerical-control machines. You will fabricate and repair metalworking tools, gauges, and fixtures, ensuring precision and adherence to specifications.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, selecting fixtures, adjusting machine controls, and collaborating with engineers to resolve issues.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
1–2 years of related experience or training.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; communicate effectively with groups.
Ability to calculate proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume and apply basic algebra and geometry.
RCRA hazardous materials loading, labeling, transferring training.

Responsibilities

Study blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine dimensions and setup requirements.
Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions on materials for machining.
Select and secure fixtures and tools on mills, lathes, and grinders.
Set machining controls for speed, feed, and depth; input or edit CNC data.
Observe machine operations, identify malfunctions, and adjust controls as needed.
Verify finished workpieces meet specs and perform trial runs.
Assemble parts, verify dimensions, and ensure alignment.
Install machined replacement parts and test functionality.
Collaborate with engineers and production staff to resolve issues.
Operate forklift or hand truck to move materials around the facility.
