Job summary

Technology Service Corporation (TSC) seeks a Mid-Level Thermal Engineer to support work at the Naval Research Laboratory, focusing on the design, analysis, and evaluation of advanced aerospace thermal systems for aircraft, weapons, and spacecraft.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of aerospace thermal/aerothermal experience, proficiency with TRASYS, SINDA/Fluint, Thermal Desktop, FORTRAN and Python, and a TS/SCI preferred clearance.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship and active Secret clearance (TS/SCI preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in thermal and aerothermal design and analysis for aerospace applications.
• Proficiency with thermal analysis software packages including TRASYS, SINDA/Fluint, and Thermal Desktop.
• Experience with FORTRAN and Python for scripting, automation, or model development.
• Working knowledge of STAR‑CCM+, HEEDS, and Cart3D.
• Strong understanding of thermal modeling techniques, heat transfer principles, and system‑level integration.

Responsibilities

• Develop analytical thermal models for aerospace systems, including transient and steady-state analyses.
• Perform detailed thermal and aerothermal analyses using industry-standard tools.
• Validate analytical models through test data, simulations, and comparative methods.
• Support design teams by providing thermal performance predictions and recommending design improvements.
• Apply CFD methods to analyze aerothermal loads, heating environments, and system performance.
• Prepare technical documentation, analysis reports, and presentation materials.
• Ensure all work adheres to government procurement practices, regulations, and program requirements.
