Job summary

AV AeroVironment offers a paid Summer Internship Program designed to provide students with hands-on experience within the aerospace and defense industry. The 12-week, onsite program supports the testing of unmanned aircraft systems and payloads, under mentorship and with opportunities to collaborate across engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a relevant B.S. degree and maintaining GPA.
• 0–2 years of related academic or project experience.
• Experience with bug reports and root-cause analysis.
• Familiarity with C# or LabVIEW.
• Basic debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to estimate cost or development time.
• Knowledge of mechanical/electrical design principles.
• Understanding of test specifications and validation.
• Exposure to manual and automated testing methods.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing, developing, deploying, debugging, and upgrading test equipment for AV systems.
• Support C# / OOP software development using Visual Studio.
• Help develop test software in C#.
• Collaborate to develop test plans, gather requirements, and create test strategies.
• Analyze, process, and format test results per procedures.
• Meet project deliverables in a fast-paced engineering environment.
• Support cross-functional teams across engineering disciplines.
• Provide feedback to design teams on testability.
• Develop test cases for power conversion, motor control, and avionics from design to testing.
• Execute tests on avionics power and propulsion components under supervision.
• Learn AV procedures and apply professional engineering concepts.
• Work with detailed instructions and mentorship.
• Assist in other duties as assigned.
