Job summary

Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized Systems Test Engineer to perform system-level verification testing for our VTOL electric aircraft. The role will split time between Santa Cruz, CA and Marina, CA, contributing to ITLs and HAL test activities.

You will develop test procedures, analyze data, and work with cross-functional teams to drive design improvements toward FAA certification.

Qualifications

• BS in Aerospace, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of industry experience.
• Experience running system-level tests in a lab environment.
• Experience with Instrumentation, Data Acquisition Systems and Sensors.
• Experience developing and executing Hardware-In-The-Loop (HIL) tests.
• Strong analytical background.
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, write, and execute system level verification testing in ITLs.
• Act as Pilot-in-the-Loop and Test Director, and train others.
• Write Formal Test Procedures and SOPs.
• Maintain configuration control of ITL hardware/software and calibration records.
• Drive Root Cause Corrective Actions with cross-functional SMEs.
• Develop tools to ensure safe, fast, repeatable test execution.
• Analyze data to generate reports for engineering feedback.
