Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Dallas, TX seeks a System Safety Engineer for the Hardware Engineering team. You will lead safety-analysis across the product line, embedding safety into architecture, use-cases, and software designs while mentoring junior engineers.

You will perform hazard analyses per MIL-STD-882, develop safety documentation, and support verification and validation, collaborating with systems and software engineers. U.S. citizen with ability to obtain secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Experience developing and implementing a System Safety Program IAW MIL-STD-882.
• Experience developing and evaluating system safety requirements.
• Familiarity with Software Safety Program IAW AOP-52 and DoD guidelines.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead hazard analyses and safety assessments per MIL-STD-882 and contractual requirements.
• Develop and maintain safety documentation, reports, and deliverables.
• Recommend safety-focused design features, controls, and procedures.
• Perform software safety analyses and support verification & validation.
• Collaborate with systems and software engineering on safe architectures.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior System Safety Engineers.
• Represent the team in design reviews, risk assessments, and customer briefings.
• Monitor emerging safety standards to keep the team at the forefront.
