Job summary

PPG in Sylmar, CA seeks a Supplier Development Engineer to drive supplier performance, quality, and continuous improvement across NA Aerospace. You’ll partner with project managers and cross-functional teams to deliver cost savings and risk reduction while ensuring supplier qualification and performance aligns with program needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, or related professional degree.
• 3+ years of procurement, supplier development, manufacturing, or industrial engineering experience.
• Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, or Lean Manufacturing experience desirable.
• Must work well in a team and make effective presentations.

Responsibilities

• Support development and execution of procurement projects for Aerospace SBU, including cost reduction and supplier qualification.
• Assist in supplier qualification and selection leading to customer acceptance.
• Coordinate communications between suppliers and internal stakeholders, including leadership, procurement, supply chain, design engineering, operations, and quality.
• Identify and develop second source suppliers and alternative materials to reduce risk.
• Participate in value stream analysis, PRR/PRA, PPAP/APQP, FAI, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support closure of action items within the Supplier RAIL and collaborate to reduce costs while improving quality.
