Job summary

Scaled Composites, LLC in Mojave, CA is seeking experienced Subsystems Engineers to own one or more vehicle systems and translate requirements into robust designs. You will develop end-to-end concepts, analyze performance, and support flight testing across disciplines.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of subsystems design, CAD experience (NX/CATIA/SolidWorks), and the ability to lead teams on aggressive schedules; DoD clearance is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of subsystems design experience.
• Ability to analyze system behavior.
• Knowledge of related system components and their functions.
• Ability to operate test and vehicle instrumentation to verify system performance.
• Strong problem solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience in 3D CAD.
• Ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines on an aggressive schedule.
• Bachelor of Science in a relevant engineering discipline or substantial equivalent experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop end-to-end mechanical sub-system concepts.
• Select and design system components.
• Determine loads and system demands based on vehicle requirements.
• Analyze system performance, document results, and present findings for review.
• Design for fault-tolerant behavior of all critical subsystems.
• Develop build documentation and supervise part/system fabrication and integration.
• Develop test procedures and conduct functional, acceptance, and qualification testing.
• Provide system knowledge to flight test teams for initial and ongoing vehicle testing.
• Mentor early-career engineers based on experience and domain knowledge.
